Getting away from it all in the heart of nature is one of the safest options. We explain everything you need to know when planning a rural getaway in times of COVID-19.
Travel safely in the natural world
Outdoor space and the natural world are the safest of places, but even so, don’t let your guard down. It’s important to respect the mandatory safety measures in place, and we have some tips to help make sure you have a great time.
Wearing a face mask is mandatory (except for children under the age of 6) in all enclosed public spaces and enclosed spaces open to the public. It is not mandatory to wear a face mask outside, except at large outdoor events where attendees are standing. Or if when seated it is not possible to maintain the safety distance of 1.5 m (except in the case of members of the same household).
1. Rural accommodation: a safe option for your stay.
Before booking your rural accommodation, check on the polices and safety measures that have been put in place. And make sure that you maintain the safety distance between yourself and others in the common areas, and wear your face mask. Remember that it’s best not to use shared objects (magazines, pens, board games, etc.)
2. Enjoy sport at the heart of nature and follow these recommendations
Whenever possible, take your own equipment for activities in the mountains. This way you’ll avoid exchanging items with other people, and thus reduce risk. Make sure you respect the safety distance at all times.
If you take part in organised activities, follow the rules set by the organisers. Don’t forget to respect safety distances, and to take your own hand sanitiser.
3. Visit protected natural spaces with care.
In some of these, the number of visitors permitted has been reduced to comply with safety measures. We therefore recommend booking your tickets in advance to make sure that you won’t have any problems with capacity restrictions. Also, by buying your tickets online, you’ll avoid crowding at the ticket sales windows.
Try to keep your distance from others, and follow the marked trails. Don’t forget to take water and hand sanitiser with you.
